First forge weld
Got a little crazy today and decided to beat some 5160 spring steel. First prepped it by removing all rust and dirt, with the belt sander. Got everything else ready while the steel warmed up enough to bend the metal around the end of a crow bar. I messed up and went with a really small hole, but hey, shit happens right? lol. I think i can drift it open more. Once I got everything close, I heated the steel to a bright yellow and then gently set the weld. This took around 4 trips to the forge to heat it, but by the time i was done, everything looked in one piece. I took it to the belt sander and cleaned up the edges to make sure everything looked solid. To say the least i didnt expect it to forge the first time lol.
But anyway, this is its rough shape so far.
