New Goex Plant Owner

In January 2009 Hodgdon acquired an American icon GOEX Powder, Inc. GOEX has a rich history dating back to 1802 where E.I. Du Pont de Nemours broke ground on his original black powder plant along the Brandywine River in Delaware. Goex Powder, Inc. manufactures black powder used for sporting applications such as civil war re-enactments and flintlock firearms, and is a vital component for industrial and military applications. Located in Minden, Louisiana, GOEX Powder, Inc. is the only U.S. manufacturer of black powder. Hodgdon then sold the GOEX plant and brand in 2021.

I’ve seen that on their website but it doesn’t say who they sold it too?

Any ideas?

Probably going to be swiss/schutzen.  They know how to do it. That's my guess anyway.

I heard thru the grape vine that Dupont was interested in buying goex.

Dupont always throws their hat in the ring, they have looked at several different black powder firms in the last 40 years. But get out bid or loose interest .... ???


I still remember back in the 1950's when one of their black powder plants had a melt down and caught their plastic plant in the explosion. My dad was the one from the phone company that had to go to this plant and see what was needed to get communications up and running once the air had cleared (I got to ride along that day). What a mess ...
