Agree 100% with Ethan. I've seen members run off new guys, simply for shooting black synthetic stock muzzleloaders, or asking about pyrodex. I see people at rendezvous arguing over new comers, not being dressed up properly and not allowing them to compete, which h I feel is total bs. Let those new people be part of us and get a sense of comfort. This is an expensive sport, hobby, and it takes years to get everything you need to be proper.

I whole heartily agree. Why chase away the ones that will help keep our sport alive. Many of those that start off with modern in-lines will eventually try a traditional styled gun and like it enough to get their own. At my club, we have had several converts from in-line users to traditional guns. Our shoots are open to all types of muzzle loaders, but once the in-line shooters see how sell the traditional guns shoot they want to try them and it is not surprising to see them come to the next shoot with a new to them traditional gun.

Jonathan, I couldn't have said that better myself. The trivial arguments of types of muzzleloaders and proper dress is ridiculous. There is nothing that will turn off newcomers, new members more than this type attitudes. I have to ask all the old timers, did you have everything proper when you started as afar as clothing, utensils, accessories....????
