Re: A keeper I think!!
It arrived today!!
Ardesa Mountain Rifle .54cal!
Ardesa is the company that makes guns for traditions as well. More at an economic price of course.
Ardesa themselves, produces some really high quality stuff that's not available in the states.
I got super lucky with this one and it turned out to have a quality walnut stock!
These weigh around 8.5lbs I believe. Heavy 1" across the flats barrel.
The wedge keys are pinned in so they don't fall out. That'll make refinishing the stock a bit tricky, but I'm sure I can work around it.
Not doing anything to the rifle just yet. I will put traditional sights on right away however.
I do appreciate the more hawken styling with the nose cap design.
I can see it completely browned, oil finish. Lock Internals polished along with the triggers.

Re: A keeper I think!!
When you say the wedges are pinned in, do you mean they are slotted with a pin holding them from falling out? If so, the pin is probably held captive by the escutcheons and when you remove those the wedges will come right out. At least, that's how I have mine done. Shouldn't give you any troubles.
