I prefer to use denatured alcohol. It dries real fast so I don't have to worry about moisture contaminating the next powder charge.

I spit on a flannel patch for wiping between shots. Once done shooting I have a small bottle of Ed's Red in my pouch which I will do a quick clean up with, leaving the bore wet with it. Complete cleaning is done at home.
My flannel cleaning patches are home made from material I pick up at JoAnne's or Walmart. A couple of yards will make enough patches to last many years. I just rip 2" or so strips off, then cut those into 2" squares and I'm good to go.
