Patched round balls in the CVA Hawken
CVA Hawken day! 25 yards, 70gr 3fg, .490" round balls, .020" patches lubed with Birchwood Casey no.77/ballistol mix. 3 shots, no swabbing.
2 groups from 50 yards with the CVA Hawken, 70gr 3fg Gearhart-owen, .020 patches and .490 round balls. I loaded one patch quite a bit off center and that shot went far to the left " second target.
Also tried 80gr 3fg. That seems to be the sweet spot except for that darn blown patch deal. Loader error simply put. That blown patch actually sent it a couple inches higher from the main group.
The other bad news, from a target shooters stand point... it's hitting approximately 4" high at 50. That'd put me a bit high at 100.
