Like the staples Jonathan, looks good. Suggestion: make your plug thinner on what's showing on the end.
Re: Making my first powder horn
That horn is nice and I like it. I've always made my own staples since it's one of the few things I can do reasonably well. I cut down a large (50+ year old and damaged) horn and was able to work it into a decent day horn. The buffalo horn I've had for years shows my pathetic attempts at "decorating". It's still an ongoing project but is currently full of powder. Both of those horns have screw-in plugs - I cheated and used a short piece of a bolt just to hurry along the job. The third horn was a "blow horn" with a mouthpiece containing a reed. I removed it and tapped an antler (with a narrow pour spout) section to screw on with a small antler plug for the spout. All three are still ongoing projects that I'll get around working on again eventually. But they're still serviceable as is. Let's see if I can find any photos to post. No photos of the "horn" horn.
Better photo.
This one I dropped and broke and had to toss.

Good looking horn Hanshi, you need to offer a service for rebuilding or making some old period horns. I may have one or two for you......

I have the interest and desire but NONE of the skill to even do acceptable "crude" work.

BUT; anytime I come into an old cow horn or such I always tinker with it - cut it down, modify it, grind, carve and paint or whatever. They always serve quite well but their awful appearance keeps them "safe".
