My All Time Favorite; among some other favorites
I've had this jewel in my battery for a very long time. Yes, it did lay waste to many deer. A .250 Savage and it don't get no better than this. Who else has that one, special rifle (modern) you love and can't part with?

I guess I should include the other half of my two favorites that have lain waste to whitetails. It's my special edition Rem 700 classic in .350 Rem mag. I like the 200 grain bullet with enough 3031 to reach 2700 fps. Yes, I've taken it higher with similar accuracy but with more unneeded recoil. It is one of the two sub 1" rifles; the other is a Ruger 77 in...you guessed it, .250 Sav. But for hunting I prefer the M99.

I bought this Ruger M77 back in, I believe, 1975. .250/3000 and has shot many groups of 3/8" or a tad less and killed more deer in the past decades than I can even guess at.
My M99 Savages. Top is .308 and .250/3000 on the bottom. The .250 is much used in the bush and a treasure. I sadly no longer have the .308 as I had to sell half of my stuff when we moved. I'll sell my first born before I sell either of these.
For your viewing pleasure, my S&W M29-2 I picked up over a half century ago.

We were issued the M14 .308 so I got to fire wagon loads of that fine cartridge. I've killed deer with both the 30/06 and the .308 and even dropped plenty of them with a .270 Win Featherweight that I regret letting go. But the .250 Sav(s) followed me more often into the deer woods
