This is an interesting rifle being a doubled stamped gun (very rare - only a few we know of).
This explains the stampings [GRRW / GRRW.CA #L02 LB]
I sent this rifle to Jonathan so he can see the amount of wood needed to be removed on the Leman he has on the bench at this time. SEE: Leman Cross Plains Rifle Kit.
He will be applying his magic touch to this rifle with coning the muzzle, polishing the bore, applying Birchwood Casey "Genuine Oil" and sighting the rifle in.

- H.E. Leman Trade Rifle - started life as a kit rifle at GRRW, serial number #L02. This was payment for labor to one of the gunsmiths - Les Bennett - LB. Les worked at GRRW part time and now works at GRRW.CA and built this rifle out of a kit he has had since 1978. This has the famous "Choked Barrel" in .50 caliber, a beautiful half stock percussion gun.

I was called yesterday by Jonathan's father to let me know the rifle arrived safetly. Once Jonathan has a chance he'll compare this gun to the one he has on his bench - the "Leman Cross Plains Rifle Kit" from Doc White. Now he has a model to compare size of forearm, butt stock and lock area of what was produced back in the day of GRRW. His findings should be interesting when looking at the two side by side. The one (Les Bennett builder) Leman Trade Rifle is like what was produced in an earlier time.
NOTE: The Les Bennett Leman is darker finish requested by most guys today, the first ones were a blonde color, not as dark as what we see now. There is a slight change in the nose cap design too. Otherwise it's the same rifle - now and then.
